Ethiopia’s Eas Bet Airline in financial crisis as they lost around 12.2 billion birr for the past year according to reports by Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority.

It is said that since its start of operation back in 2018, Eas bet has had a number of challenges which led to it experiencing significant losses with some reporting those loss being over 18% last year.

Reports indicate that despite having about 25% share in the traffic market at one point, their overall business performance has been declining drastically since the past two years.

There have also been reports that Eas bet is facing a serious financial challenge with the airline unable to pay its staff for months now.

According to various sources close to the airline’s management and some other senior officials of Ethiopian airlines, the current situation at eas bet was caused by multiple factors which include corruption and mismanagement within the company.

The first major issue mentioned is that Eas Bet has no clear operational strategy in place. The way it is currently being run with many executives lacking any experience in handling an airline.

It’s said when they started out back in 2018, the Ethiopian government had a goal of having Eas bet as one of its flagship airlines serving major destinations around Africa. However, things didn’t go according to plan.

With several cases of corruption reported within eas bet, there has been growing speculation that some top officials might face prosecution.
